How do we generate positive PR for our field?

I had a number of friends, family members, and colleagues forward this NY Times article to me this week. It highlights one physician’s possible overuse of percutaneous coronary intervention and stenting. This has already set another wave of negative press about our profession as interventional cardiologists. I not only find myself having to explain to my patients why they are about to have an indicated verse un-indicated procedure, but I find myself defending my noble profession to other professionals. Does anybody have any thoughts on ways to generate positive PR for our field? – Sohah N. Iqbal, MD WINExchange Co-Editor

This is clearly a timely post, and something I hope the WIN membership will be eager to discuss. SCAI leadership responded to this issue earlier this week with the following statement.
